We are mama Melanie and teacher Nawar and we have joined our superpowers to create incredible creative educational games to make Arabic learning for children (Arabic and non-Arabic speakers) enjoyable and fun!

Let us introduce ourselves :)

Mama Melanie

I have lived in Dubai for almost 15 years! My background is a mix of Greek and Scottish and my husband is Syrian. My two children were both born here, in the wonderful international Dubai. When my first born was younger I struggled to find fun ways to support their Arabic language at home as I was not an Arabic speaker myself. I could not find anything enticing to help them learn or myself! Having previously worked in a nursery and having my own two I felt there was a real need for fun, vibrant and creative learning games in Arabic. Soon after I met teacher Nawar who also had a similar vision we joined forces and together that vision became a project that we worked very hard on (usually during my second baby's nap times!) and our first game 'The Letters Island' was born.

A special thank you to my husband who gave us that push and encouragement to create something ourselves and to just go for it!

Teacher Nawar

I'm from Syria and I grew up in the UAE. As a child, even though all my schooling was in Arabic I struggled with loving the language in school, so when I started teaching, I wanted to make it as fun and engaging as possible. Soon I noticed a lack of resources in the market to support my lessons and I started coming up with creative ways and handmade resources that captured children's attention and increased their curiosity. That's when I met Melanie and after chatting about our similar ideas, it became very clear that we had to create something that transforms those ideas into life.

I can't say it was easy, but it definitely was a lot of fun, creativity and learning new things along the way, and that's exactly the spirit we wanted our game to carry!
